After setting the pace in Thursday's practice, Fernando Alonso crashed into the barriers at Massenet just after going fastest on Saturday morning. He will now not be able to take part in qualifying

As qualifying starts, the Ferrari garage makes a forlorn sight as the mechanics start work on repairing Alonso's car for its pit-lane start on Sunday
Despite the build-up, there are no upsets in the first session, and Nico Rosberg's Mercedes goes fastest in the second session to put the German in the running for pole
In the final session, though, it is Kubica who throws down the gauntlet, with a brilliant 1:14.120 lap to lead the way going into the final two minutes of the session
Lewis Hamilton had been optimistic of challenging at the front after a strong showing in practice but he can only manage fourth on the grid, with team-mate Jenson Button even more disappointed in eighth
Sebastian Vettel, with three poles already this season, cannot do anything about the Renault driver and he will line up third on the grid for the race
But in the dying seconds, the other Red Bull of Mark Webber produces the goods. The Australian sets two laps that were quick enough for pole and will start from the front for the second race in a row
