McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh, the chairman of teams' association Fota, says the switch to 18-inch wheels with the introduction of a new tyre supplier following Bridgestone's withdrawal at the end of this season would be "desirable", but added that "in order to contain costs at this difficult time, Foto would prefer to continue with 13 inches in the short term". Polish driver Robert Kubica is being strongly linked with a move to Ferrari, while there are also reports the 25-year-old has already signed a preliminary contract with the Italian team.

F1 drivers have proposed that the first session of qualifying for next weekend's Monaco Grand Prix be split into parts. A group of drivers from both ends of the grid fear the traffic implications of 24 cars being on the short and twisty street layout at the same time, particularly with three teams vastly off the pace.

The world's first Ferrari theme park will open its doors to the public in Abu Dhabi on 28 October. The park, which includes a rollercoaster ride that should reach speeds of up to 240kph, is located next to the Yas Marina circuit that hosts the season-ending Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix on 14 November.
