Felipe Massa completed a successful karting comeback by adding victory in the Granja Viana 500 mile enduro to his heat win in last week's International Challenge of Go-Kart Champions.

Five hundred jobs are being axed at Toyota Motorsport GmbH in Cologne, where the company's F1 team was based. It is expected that there will 150 staff left when the lay-offs are finished.

Speculation that Michael Schumacher may make a Formula 1 return with Mercedes Grand Prix continue in Germany after Mercedes sports boss Norbert Haug refused, in an interview with Bild, to rule out the seven-time champion as an option for the team.

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has shed a little more light on the decision to drop Kimi Raikkonen and hire Fernando Alonso, saying that Alonso is a better development driver, more in the mould of Michael Schumacher, and that is what the team needs.

Giancarlo Fisichella has told Germany's Auto Bild that he is keen to keep racing in Formula 1, but insists he will be Ferrari's reserve driver in 2010 whatever happens.
