To compound Barrichello's misery, Red Bull's Mark Webber moves into the lead as the Brazilian gets caught in traffic before suffering a late puncture to limp home in front of his home fans in eighth position
After a race in which he showed the bravery and nerve of a champion, Button crosses the line in fifth place to win the 2009 world title as he builds an unassailable lead in the table ahead of Sebastian Vettel
Webber spurts some winner's champagne up into the air as celebrates the second race win of his career on the podium with Lewis Hamilton, who managed to guide his McLaren home in thrid after starting down in 17th
But, with emotions running high after a debut season in which Brawn also clinched the constructors' championship, its new world champion Button who is the real winner as he receives a hug from Barrichello
