Button puts in a series of solid performances in his maiden season, finishing fourth in Germany at Hockenheim and gaining four fifth-placed finishes on his way to eighth place in the drivers' championship
Despite still being under contract with Williams, Button drives for Benetton in 2001. But it is a much harder season for the young Englishman, who ends up 17th in the championship in a difficult car
