"I gotta feeling..." - F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone shares a moment with Fergie of US hip hop stars Black Eyed Peas, as the band await Saturday's practice and qualifying action in Singapore
The last of the Singapore sun disappears in the distance as the final practice session gets under way on the bumpy, dusty Marina Bay street track
Left-right: Former F1 world champion Damon Hill, a rather incongruous floral arrangement, and FIA presidential candidate Ari Vatanen share a quiet table on the Singapore sidelines
"What have we done to this car?" - Brawn GP's Jenson Button, who finishes final practice down in 14th, cuts an exasperated figure over the team radio as the session draws to a close
Renault's Fernando Alonso, who has had plenty to think about in recent weeks, heads out into practice with a view to improving on his 20 championship points on Sunday - but comes home 15th-fastest
Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, sitting third in the drivers' championship, finishes final practice a third of a second behind fastest man Lewis Hamilton of McLaren
Despite having publicly aired his reservations about the Singapore circuit, Hamilton had the fastest time for much of final practice, and stole the number one spot back from Vettel in the session's last moments
A crowd already sated by cameos around the track from Beyonce and Fergie is then offered a set from Australian DJ Havana Brown as the entertainment steps up a notch
And here is Beyonce (on the left, in case you were wondering), enjoying a tour of the McLaren garage with Lewis Hamilton plus girlfriend and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger
Giancarlo Fisichella might look sumptuous steering his Ferrari beneath a smouldering night sky, but the picture's less pretty on the qualifying board as the former Force India man fails to make it out of Q1
Nico Rosberg produces a stunning Q2 in his Williams ahead of a last-ditch belter of a lap from Red Bull's Mark Webber, but Brawn's Jenson Button locks his brakes and qualifies a lowly 12th
Button, left with much to contemplate, blamed changes to the car's front tyre pressures in between Q1 and Q2 for his premature demise
Hamilton, however, can look forward to starting from pole once again, following Rubens Barrichello's crash in the dying moments of the shoot-out, which robbed Vettel of a chance to challenge
Barrichello, in his own words, "bounced off the wall" with a little more than 20 seconds of the session remaining, just as Vettel, slightly further back, went inside Hamilton's time through the first sector
Not that Vettel (left) seemed too bothered as the pair celebrated their podium finishes in the immediate aftermath of qualifying, with Rosberg coming home third
