Barrichello is the early race leader as he battles past Webber but there is high drama as the two cars touch as they fight for position, Webber is later penalised with a drive through penalty by the stewards
Webber's hopes of a maiden Grand Prix win are boosted when rivals Felipe Massa, Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button are held up by Heikki Kovalainen's McLaren in the opening stages after the Finn's Kers-boosted start
Barrichello cannot shake Webber off as the Red Bull man shows some impressive pace, both drivers pit on lap 14, Barrichello for a stop and Webber for his penalty, and the Australian comes out with the race lead
Webber goes in for his first actual pit stop on lap 20 handing the race lead to Ferrari's Massa, who uses his Kers system to frustrate the chasing Barrichello and prevent him getting too far ahead of the chasing pack
Barrichello has a point to prove when Massa goes into the pits on lap 26 and the Brazilian gets his foot down to clock a lap that is an amazing two seconds quicker than his previous one stuck behind Massa
There is heartbreak for Adrian Sutil as he is passed on the outside by Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen on lap 28, the Finn takes the German's front wing with him and ends any chance of a first points finish for Force India
Webber regains the lead on lap 32 when Barrichello pits for a second time and the Red Bull man flexes his muscles out in front with some scintillating lap times to take a firm grip on his first ever Formula 1 race win
A problem with the fuel rig during Barrichello's second stop ends his hopes of an unlikely race win - in truth Brawn did not look like they had the pace to compete with the rampant Red Bulls
Webber crosses the line for a maiden Formula 1 victory, the popular Australian put in a magnificent drive in his 130th Grand Prix to seal a deserved victory
Webber is joined on the podium by his team-mate Vettel as Red Bull celebrate a third one-two of the season and the duo close the gap on Jenson Button and Brawn in the both the drivers' and constructors' championships
