Emerson Fittipaldi lifted the F1 title in 1972 and 1974 |
Two-time Formula One champion Emerson Fittipaldi has tipped Lewis Hamilton to beat fellow Brazilian Felipe Massa to the drivers' crown this year. Ferrari driver Massa trails Stevenage's McLaren star Hamilton by just one point with four races left. Fittipaldi, who won in 1972 and 1974, told BBC London 94.9: "With my Brazilian heart I say yes, Felipe will do it. He's committed to win. "But if I use my logical side I think Lewis will take the title." He added: "When you get an opportunity like this you have to grab it, Felipe now has more experience. But Lewis is incredible, I'm a great admirer. He's doing what no Grand Prix driver has ever done before in their first two years - he's outstanding." As the drivers prepare for the first ever Formula One night race in Singapore, the 61-year-old said: "The next four races are going to be incredible - what a championship. Whoever wins the title this season will deserve it." Fittipaldi is in charge of Team Brazil in A1GP. Their season starts at Zandvoort on Sunday, 5 October.
