1301: What a finish. Hamilton produces a stunning lap of 1:27.373 to set the fastest time. His mark soon disappears though as right behind him, Massa posts 1:29.329 to take pole in Turkey for the second straight year. Raikkonen is caught out during the twisty finish to the lap to end up in third while Alonso struggles on the harder tyres during his last-gasp effort to end up in fourth.

1256: Massa goes quickest with a time of 1:27.520, beating his team-mate Raikkonen into second. Alonso tries to respond but can only go third. The drivers come in again for one final shot.

1251: Toyota's Jarno Trulli is the first driver to come in and change his tyres ready for a quick lap. The other drivers soon follow. To try and solve the problems that surfaced in Hungary, McLaren have given both of their drivers a separate pit box. I wonder who called for that to be introduced?

1246: Raikkonen leads the cars out of the pits as the top-10 battle begins.

1244: Davidson is delighted with his time of 1:28.002. "It was a brilliant lap, it all came together," he said. "I asked my engineer what his expectations were and he said anything from p15 to p20. To almost get into the top 10 is incredible."

1237: Frantic stuff at the end of the session as all the midfield drivers put in a last-gasp lap to try and make the top 10. Davidson thinks he has done it after a superb time to go eighth but is bumped down to 11th right at the death. The Super Aguri driver joins Mark Webber, David Coulthard, Rubens Barrichello, Jenson Button and Alexander Wurz in being eliminated.

1230: Raikkonen is looking good and sets the first sub 1:27 lap of the weekend. Alonso has something to say about that though and immediately sets the fastest time of 1:26.841. Hamilton goes third with a lap of 1:26.936.

1225: Alexander Wurz is first out in Q2 but gets out of shape at turn eight and nine and decides to straight into the pits to think again.

1222: The track temperature is now a stifling 52C. A very downcast Ralf Schumacher is not happy, at all, and gives a television interview where he complains about his car's handling.

1215: That's it for the first round. Toyota's Ralf Schumacher is surprisingly one of the drivers eliminated. Sakon Yamamoto, Adrian Sutil, Sebastian Vettel, Takuma Sato and Liuzzi are the others. Anthony Davidson produces a fine lap and is up to ninth.

1212: It's all go. Raikkonen goes fastest in 1:27.294 and is quickly followed by Alonso while Massa is third despite having a slow finish to his lap. Hamilton is fourth, for now.

1207: Nico Rosberg goes quickest with a time of 1:28.275. David Coulthard is now third.

1204: Toro Rosso's Vitantonio Liuzzi sets an early fastest time of 1:29.451. The big guns have yet to show their hands.

1200: It is a hot, sunny day in Turkey. The ambient temperature is 35C with a track temperature of 50C. The session has begun and some of the cars are now out on the track.

1155: Just in case you need reminding, here are the rules again for qualifying:

After the first 15-minute session, the slowest six cars will be eliminated. Six more cars will then be eliminated during a second spell before the remaining top 10 cars battle it out for the grid positions.

Why not get in touch via 606 or by texting 81111 to let us know your thoughts.

1154: Morning all. Formula One is back after its mid-season break and boy did some of the drivers need it after the controversy of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton and McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso have apparently called a truce following their very public spat. We'll see how long that lasts shall we?

All eyes will be on the rivals during qualifying, which is where all the problems started in Hungary, just to see if there are any lingering issues that were not fully sorted out during their little chat.

Elsewhere, Ferrari duo Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa will be looking to close the gap on Hamilton and Alonso at the top of the standings.

Raikkonen topped the times in the first practice session on Friday, with Hamilton taking the honours in the second session.

And Hamilton continued his fine form on Saturday morning with the fastest time in final practice despite a mechanical problem early on.

The 22-year-old's car stopped at the exit of the pit lane and mechanics had to push the car back to the team's garage.

He sat in his car for the next 17 minutes while the team tried to get to the bottom of the problem which apparently was a connector that had worked loose and needed re-attaching.

Hamilton also had a spin in the final minute but was able to recover.
