Hamilton was taken by stretcher to the Nurburgring's medical centre |
Lewis Hamilton has been cleared to race in the European Grand Prix, which begins at the Nurburgring at 1300 BST. The McLaren driver suffered a serious crash during Saturday's qualifying session and was taken to a military hospital near Koblenz.
But the 22-year-old Briton was cleared in a final check-up by FIA doctor Gary Hartstein on Sunday morning.
Hamilton, who leads the drivers' championship, will start from 10th on the grid.
The Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen starts from pole, with Hamilton's team-mate Fernando Alonso also on the front row, while Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari is third.
A McLaren statement read: "Vodafone McLaren Mercedes are pleased to confirm that Lewis Hamilton has been cleared to race in today's European Grand Prix by the FIA medical delegate Dr Hartstein and chief medical officer of the event, Dr Klaus U Zerbian."
Hamilton was attended to for 13 minutes by stewards and trackside medics on Saturday before eventually being lifted into the back of a waiting ambulance with his neck in a brace, while he was also on a drip.
