Toyota Formula One car
Big-budget Toyota have failed to win in five years in F1
Toyota has added a third senior manager to its Formula One team in an attempt to break a five-year win drought.

Tadashi Yamashina, in charge of motorsport for the Japanese car giant, has been appointed vice-chairman of the team, who are based in Cologne.

A statement said the move was "to strengthen Toyota's F1 technical development and race strategy structures" for 2007.

Toyota's best results are two second places by Jarno Trulli in 2005.

The team are reputed to have one of the two highest budgets in F1, along with Ferrari.

Yamashina will run the team with team boss and chairman Tsutomu Tomita and John Howett, who is president of the Cologne operation, Toyota Motorsport GmbH.

"With the addition of Yamashina as vice-chairman, the three of us... will challenge to lead our team to its first victory," said Tomita.

The team's best season was 2005, when they finished fourth overall. They slipped back to sixth last season.
