The Toro Rosso F1 team have appointed 35-year-old German Alex Hitzinger as their new technical director. Hitzinger will join the Italian-based team on 1 November in place of departed Gabriele Tredozi. He was formerly engine maker Cosworth's head of F1 development and also worked for Toyota in rallying and F1 projects. The Red Bull-owned team said Hitzinger would also serve as head of advanced technologies at Toro Rosso's sister F1 team Red Bull Racing.
