Alonso says Renault cannot afford to ease off |
Fernando Alonso says Renault must keep improving if they are to keep their F1 rivals at bay and retain their titles. Alonso won his fourth straight race in Canada on Sunday, but said: "It's not as easy as it probably seems on TV - we've had a lot of pressure.
"I think we need to keep developing the car. We had a new package for Canada that works pretty well.
"We have more steps forwards for France and Germany and, if we keep winning like this, it is the best defence."
The Spaniard cited Michael Schumacher's charge from the rear of the grid for Ferrari in Monaco, as one reason why Renault must not relax.

"Michael was quick in Monaco when he started from the back, and (McLaren's) Kimi Raikkonen had a mechanical problem when he was pushing me."
Schumacher, now 25 points behind Alonso in the drivers' standings with nine races to go, is refusing to give up hope of catching the world champion.
The German said: "The gap is quite big now, but we must not give up and I know we won't, starting next weekend at Indianapolis."
Schumacher won last year's US Grand Prix when a dispute over the safety of Michelin's tyres saw only six cars take part in the race.
