Button has been in Formula One for six years without a win |
Jenson Button insists Honda are the right team to fulfil his ambitions of winning a first Grand Prix and becoming a real world championship contender. A lack of pace and technical problems have restricted Button to just one podium spot this season in Malaysia but the Briton expects his team to improve.
"I have a lot of faith in the team to be winning races and challenging for the world championship," Button said.
"But I'm not going to put a timescale on it - that's something I can't do."
Button is 11th in the driver standings, 48 points behind leader Fernando Alonso.
The 26-year-old concedes the gap has widened between Honda and front-runners Renault, Ferrari and McLaren, especially as his challenge has been weakened by a lack of consistency and pace.

Button, who joined Honda in 2003, signed a new contract with the team last year after being released from a deal with Williams that originally meant he would drive for them from 2006.
In a protracted U-turn, the Briton decided he would rather stay with Honda and still believes he has made the right decision.
"Ever since I've been with Honda, I know they won't give up," Button added.
"Building the new wind tunnel shows their commitment to giving it everything to challenge for the championship.
"The team are in the background working on next year's car but we also want to achieve results this season.
"We are going to work as hard as we can."
However, Button played down his hopes of success in next weekend's British Grand Prix.
"I'm sure there will be fans hoping for great things but I'm not sure we'll give them what they want."
