Alonso could not find a way past Schumacher at Imola |
Renault believe Michelin tyres will give them the edge over Ferrari at this weekend's European Grand Prix. Michael Schumacher won the San Marino Grand Prix two weeks ago, with his Bridgestone tyres suited to the track.
But Renault technical director Bob Bell said: "From the next races I expect the balance to swing in Michelin's favour."
"I suspect they will be Michelin races, and that our main competition will come from the Michelin teams, which means McLaren and Honda."
 | The performance we showed at Imola is what Ferrari is capable of now |
Schumacher scored his first win of the season on Ferrari's home ground at Imola, while Renault's Fernando Alonso had to settle for second.
Bell refuses to underestimate the seven-time world champion.
"Ferrari are clearly very quick, and you can never write off Michael or the team," added Bell
"We are not writing off Ferrari, of course, but we have tested strongly in Barcelona, and the car was very quick at the Nurburgring last year."
However, Schumacher insists last month's win was no flash in the pan and is geared up for more success at Nurburgring on Sunday.
"In general, the performance we showed at Imola is what Ferrari is capable of now," said the 37-year-old German, who had managed just one podium place in the three races before San Marino.
"I think we will be able to show a performance close to that at Imola all year, even though it may vary depending which circuit the race is at."
"We should be competitive again, and naturally I will do my very best there (at Nurburgring)."
