Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve has given the thumbs up to the new BMW Sauber team's 2006 car. The Canadian, the 1997 champion, drove the car for the first time on Thursday and pronounced it an immediate success.
"After the first day in a new car you can tell if it will be competitive or not," the 34-year-old said.
"This one felt fast and I think there is more potential in it than in the car last year. That's very positive."
Villeneuve's German team-mate Nick Hiedfield drove the car on Tuesday and Wednesday at Valencia before handing it over to Villeneuve at the Spanish track.
BMW Sauber technical director Willy Rampf said he was pleased with the car's reliability, saying there had been "very few minor technical problems".
