Schumacher drove the new Ferrari around the track at Fiorano |
Michael Schumacher gave Ferrari's new Formula One car its first outing at the team's Fiorano test track on Monday. The seven-time world champion completed four laps and also practised starts in the car, which will be officially unveiled on 24 January.
Schumacher did 51 laps in the unnamed car under a light snowfall; he was four seconds off his own lap record.
Ferrari had a disappointing 2005 and Schumacher has hinted he could retire if the team have another poor year.
Last week he said he would wait until midway through the season before deciding whether to race beyond 2006.
No sponsors were attached to the car, with only Ferrari's prancing horse logo on the nose.
Testing will is scheduled to continue later this week.
