Coulthard was 12th in the 2005 drivers' standings for Red Bull |
David Coulthard was impressed by his first drive in Red Bull's 2006 car at a private test session at Silverstone. The Scot carried out a handful of laps around the Northamptonshire circuit to
complete system checks prior to the new F1 car's official launch in March.
"Testing it was momentous," he said. "It represents something completely new for the team. "It must be a very proud moment for everyone involved."
The car is the first to be built entirely under Red Bull ownership.
Coulthard added of the Ferrari-powered vehicle: "The engine was delivered from Italy, but then everything has been built around it.
"This was the moment when all the newly-created parts came together.
"In terms of driving experience, the car performed as expected on track and
I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces again."
