Button is still chasing his first win in Formula One |
Jenson Button has urged Formula One bosses not to tame the sport by slowing cars and slashing budgets. "The next few years in Formula One will be very competitive. I just hope there aren't any rule changes that will hold manufacturers back," said the Briton.
"Hopefully they will let us build the quickest Formula One cars and we don't have changes to slow us down.
"We are the pinnacle of motorsport and we need to have cars that are difficult to drive - which they are."
Button's BAR team was bought out by Honda over the winter with the Japanese manufacturer likely to pump in millions in the hope of turning them into a force to be reckoned with.
But the Englishman believes that the rule change which reduces engine capacity could work in Honda's favour.

"Honda are a big manufacturer, determined to achieve in Formula One and they will," he said.
"I think you'll see the top manufacturers shining through in 2006 because it's a massive change. You will see Honda being very strong, probably Toyota and also BMW.
"I've got my head down focusing on next year, working non-stop to get that first win. There's no use talking about it, you can say what you like but it doesn't change the fact I have yet to win a race.
"Hopefully I'll go through my career and win a world championship and it will all be forgotten.
