Toyota are aiming to score their first win in Formula One this season after taking their first ever podium finish in the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday. Jarno Trulli was second to Renault's Fernando Alonso after by far the best race of Toyota's four-year spell in F1.
Toyota technical director Mike Gascoyne said: "We have shown we can deliver and now we need to start winning."
Trulli said: "It was a challenge when I chose Toyota but I knew there was a lot of potential in this team."
Trulli maintained his position throughout the race at Sepang, in stark contrast to his performance in Australia two weeks ago.
There, he faded to ninth place after also qualifying second and was criticised for not being as quick in a race as he is over one lap.
But Gascoyne, who has previously worked with the Italian at Jordan and Renault, said: "Jarno did a great job.
"He showed what he can do here and it is great. He is a great guy."
Trulli described his second place finish as "a good boost" for the team.
"It came at the right time and the right place because I believe this race is one of the toughest technically in the heat."
