Coulthard was the surprise of the first race of the season |
David Coulthard says Red Bull Racing will be hard pressed to repeat their impressive showing in Australia in Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix. The Scot and team-mate Christian Klien both finished in the points in Melbourne for the former Jaguar outfit.
"Melbourne was a great morale booster, but we now have to start all over again in a race that is a much tougher proposition," Coulthard said.
"I've been training hard for one of the most physically demanding races."
Coulthard has a good record in Malaysia, having finished second and third there for McLaren.
He said: "That will be hard to match, but I will be trying my best to bring home some points."
Red Bull benefited in Australia from the changing conditions in qualifying, which gave them artificially high grid positions. But the team believe their car is competitive enough to score points on merit.
Red Bull sporting director Christian Horner said: "Melbourne was a fantastic debut race for Red Bull Racing.
"While our result in first qualifying was fortuitous because of the weather, it's fair to say that our performance throughout the free practice sessions was very strong and that was backed up by David and Christian's pace in the race.
"Both drivers' confidence is now high and we will be looking to build on that this weekend, while remaining realistic about our prospects.
"However, Malaysia throws up a whole new challenge."
