Michelin keen to keep advantage
Giancarlo Fisichella in the Renault
The Michelin tyres held up well as Fisichella won in Australia
Michelin boss Pierre Dupasquier has insisted his tyre company will maintain maximum focus following their success in the opening Grand Prix in Australia.

Michelin have yet to win a world title since returning to F1 in 2001, but have won the first race of the new season through Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella.

"We envisaged all kinds of situations because of regulations but everything ran smoothly," Dupasquier said.

"We won't rest on our laurels because we know there's plenty of work to do."

Dupasquier added that Fisichella's success was a tribute to the endeavours of the technical team in the close season.

"We had no tyre-wear problems at all," he enthused.

"Giancarlo's result vindicates the hard work we have done during the winter and gives us an excellent platform on which to build for the rest of the season."
