Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has revealed next year's busy sporting schedule is making it difficult to finalise the 2006 Grand Prix calendar. F1's commercial boss is still trying to avoid clashes with football's World Cup in Germany next summer and Melbourne's Commonwealth Games in March.
"I am looking at the whole calendar. It is difficult with the Cup, some matches start at 3pm, some at 5pm," he said.
"There's also the Commonwealth Games, so it's not easy."
The 2006 season is expected to begin in Bahrain on 12 March before moving on to Malaysia a week later and Australia two weeks after that.
And United States Grand Prix organisers have already announced they will hold their race on 2 July, subject to approval from world governing body the FIA.
But Ecclestone has refused to comment on speculation that the British Grand Prix could move from its traditional mid-July slot to June as part of a shake-up of the calendar.
"Anything is possible," he said.
He also denied reports that a second Japanese race is to be added to the world championship and dismissed suggestions that Fuji could replace the country's existing Grand Prix venue.
"We have a contract with Suzuka," he added.
