Schumacher ready for hard battle
World champion Michael Schumacher
Schumacher hopes to match his start to last season
World champion Michael Schumacher feels he will struggle to match last year's blistering start to the F1 season.

Schumacher won the first five races of the 2004 campaign but will begin the new season in an updated version of last year's car.

"I keep thinking that a difficult start of the season awaits us," he told Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport.

"We have to keep in mind that we are using a car which is basically the one we used last year."

Schumacher will get the new car five races into the season at the Spanish Grand Prix but he knows that his his rivals' performance levels should be higher from the off.

"They will be using completely new cars which they need to learn how to set up properly and they can count on vast margins of improvement," he added.

"There's still over a month to go to Melbourne so they can surely improve."
