Minardi face another struggle in 2005 |
Cash-strapped Minardi have announced the signing of Israeli 41-year-old Chanoch Nissany as their test driver for the 2005 Formula One season. Nissany is a relative newcomer but very wealthy, a fact which no doubt boosted his attractiveness to Minardi.
The team have the smallest budget in F1 and need their drivers to bring major sponsorship with them.
Nissany, who has also had tests with Jordan, will not take part in Friday practice sessions at the Grands Prix.
"He has impressed us with his enthusiasm, his willingness to learn and his fitness," said Minardi team owner Paul Stoddart.
Minardi have signed Dutchman Christijan Albers as one of their race drivers with the other expected to be announced shortly.
The main candidates are Denmark's Nicolas Kiesa, Hungarian Zsolt Baumgartner and Austrian Patrick Friesacher.
