Davidson has only started three Grands Prix in his career |
BAR-Honda have released reserve driver Anthony Davidson to take part in a one-day test with Jordan at Silverstone next Tuesday. Davidson, 26, has been in talks with Jordan and BMW over a possible race drive for next season.
The Englishman has been in Formula One for five seasons but only made three starts so far.
"This test shows how serious I am about finding a race drive for next year," said Davidson.
"I haven't driven at Silverstone for almost a year so it will be good to be back driving on my home track again."
BAR-Honda sporting director Gil de Ferran said: "Anthony has done a fantastic job for us during the five years that he has been part of our driver line-up and his contribution to the development of our team has been immeasurable.
"BAR-Honda's 2006 driver line-up is not yet concluded so we are unable to confirm whether or not we will be in a position to help Anthony to achieve his ultimate ambition of a race seat."
The team have signed Rubens Barrichello from Ferrari, but the future of Jenson Button remains uncertain.
Williams say they have a contract with the Englishman for 2006, but Button says he wants to stay where he is.
