Australian Webber has yet to win a Grand Prix |
Mark Webber is hopeful Williams can return to winning Grands Prix despite being forced to use Cosworth engines after BMW bought Sauber. Frank Williams' outfit, who last won a race in Brazil last October, were left with little option but to go for the privately owned British company.
"Cosworth have a pretty good history of V8, although it's a totally new era of Formula One," said the Williams driver.
"Next year we could have a reliable, solid little package so we could win."
Webber said that not having a partnership with a manufacturer - considered indispensable for success in F1 these days - would not necessarily be a disadvantage.
Williams have been disappointed with the performance of their BMW engines this season.
"We've seen massive manufacturers work well and also see them get it wrong," Webber said.
"Let's hope - and I've got a lot of trust in the Cosworth guys at Northampton that they can do a good job and work closely together.
"There's an argument that you want a big manufacturer, we haven't got it so let's move on."
