McLaren driver Kimi Raikkonen believes he lost out on his first podium finish of the season because of problems with air leaking from his engine.

Raikkonen, whose team have had a dreadful year, said: "I did score some points, but I'm disappointed.

"I strongly believe I could have finished on the podium - we were able to run competitively.

"But I had to make two unscheduled stops as the team had to top up the engine's pneumatic air system."

Raikkonen said he felt McLaren had made progress with their troublesome car, in what is expected to be its last race before it is replaced.

"We have taken a step forward with the MP4-19 and we were able to run reasonably competitively," the Finn said.

Team-mate David Coulthard finished seventh despite damaging his car when he ran over some debris.
