Schumacher warns F1 rivals
Ferrari's Michael Schumacher

Ferrari's Michael Schumacher has told his rivals to expect a return to normal service at the European Grand Prix.

Schumacher, who lost for the first time this season in Monaco, is in confident mood ahead of the race at his home circuit, the Nurburgring.

"I'm always pleased to return but his time is more special," said Schumacher.

"I can't wait to get on the track. After a pointless Monaco, my objective can only be to challenge for victory and this is all I have in mind."

Schumacher added: "Just a week since Monaco, I have the chance to transform the disappointment into a successful event and this really motivates me."

"I hope to have the support of the fans who have always been behind me.

"Racing here always gives me a good feeling and I don't feel any pressure, as some might think.

"I am sure that we are in with a good chance."

BAR and Renault are expected to provide the biggest threat to Schumacher's hopes of a sixth victory this year.

Renault's Jarno Trulli is aiming to follow up his victory in Monaco, but played down his chances.

"It is a new challenge," said Trulli.

"The Nurburgring will give us a much better idea of how much we have improved the car's competitiveness."

But Button, third in the driver's standings behind Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello, is upbeat about BAR's prospects.

"We are very excited about this weekend after a great race in Monaco," said Button.

"I have gone very well there over the last couple of years so I am really looking forward to it."
