Williams insist the team are back on track after a poor season and are ready to challenge their Formula One rivals. Ralf Schumacher drove a tactical race to take second at last weekend's Japan Grand Prix while team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya grabbed some points in seventh.
"Everybody is satisfied and delighted with the 10 points," said Mario Theissen, the team's BMW engine chief.
"We are on our way to closing the gap to the front end of the grid and want to finish a difficult 2004 positively."
Schumacher, who missed the latter part of the season because of spinal injuries, took Williams' first podium spot since April.
The team set out to challenge Ferrari at the start of the season but have found themselves trailing in fourth place behind BAR and Renault in the Constructors' Championship. "Ralf delivered a flawless performance in Japan and succeeded in clinching Williams' first podium result after a long dry spell," added Theissen.
"Juan Pablo rounded off the promising picture.
"It is now crucial to clinch a similar strong result in the season's last race at the Brazilian Grand Prix."
Williams aim to take their good form forward into next season.
But a change in drivers sees Montoya switch to McLaren, Schumacher joins Toyota while Jenson Button is poised to return to Williams.
