Button is at the centre of a battle between BAR and Williams |
Jenson Button put the dispute over his future behind him to be fastest at the end of a competitive final practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Englishman lapped the Hungaroring in one minute 19.556 seconds in his BAR-Honda to head Michael Schumacher' Ferrari by 0.191secs.
Schumacher's team-mate Rubens Barrichello was third ahead of fellow Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia's Williams.
Scot David Coulthard was 12th after appearing to struggle in his McLaren.
Jarno Trulli's Renault was fifth fastest, ahead of Button's team-mate Takuma Sato and the second Renault of Fernando Alonso.
Juan Pablo Montoya's Williams was eighth fastest after the Colombian ran wide on his fastest lap, ahead of Ricardo Zonta's Toyota and Coulthard's team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, who was fastest on Friday.
Brazilian Zonta is driving for Toyota after the team decided to drop his countryman Cristiano da Matta six races before the end of the season.
Qualifying starts at 1300 BST, with the pre-qualifying session that sets the order in which the cars run in qualifying at 1200.
