Juan Pablo Montoya has admitted that a row with Williams at last year's French Grand Prix contributed to his decision to quit the team. The outspoken Colombian is preparing for his final season with Williams before he heads to Ron Dennis' McLaren.
"There was a lot of stuff that happened in that race," said Montoya, who finished second behind team-mate Ralf Schumacher at Magny-Cours.
"That all helped to make up my mind but it wasn't the only reason."
Montoya said the relationship with his team was already strained before the race.
"It did upset me, but I can tell you I was talking to Ron before that race.
"There were a lot more things that happened. It's like having a girlfriend, it gets to a point that it's too much."
Montoya, who stormed out of a press conference in Melbourne on Wednesday, denied suggestions he would have a "gagging clause" in his McLaren contract. "I think it's going to be a really interesting relationship and I'm really looking forward to it," he said.
"I know I'm starting off the year with Williams but I made up my mind after talking with Ron (Dennis).
"When you make a decision like that, he knows what he's getting into and I know what I'm getting into."
