Leinders has competed in F3000 |
Minardi test driver Bas Leinders is closing in on the "super licence" that will allow him to drive in Formula One. The Belgian was refused permission to take part in practice at the season opener in Australia last week because he had not completed 300km in testing.
But Leinders flew back to Europe to complete 315km at Ferrari's test track and hopes to get his licence ahead of the second Grand Prix in Kuala Lumpur.
"I'm very pleased to have completed the test," said the 28-year-old.
"There were heavy snowfalls all around the region, while here in Fiorano we ran on a wet track all day.
"Now I'm looking forward to travelling to Malaysia where I will officially start my job as a test driver."
