Cristiano da Matta, along with Olivier Panis, will drive for Toyota |
Big-spending Toyota are aiming to finish in the points in every race in this year's Formula One season. The Germany-based team, who finished in eighth place in the championship last season, launched their 2004 challenge in Cologne on Saturday.
"I believe we will achieve points-scoring results each weekend in 2004," said new team principal Tsutomu Tomita.
"I'm sure we will make a big step forward in 2004 and score our first ever podium finish."
Toyota are reputed to have one of the biggest budgets in F1, with 200m backing from Japan.
Frenchman Olivier Panis and Brazilian Cristiano da Matta will be guiding the on-track fortunes of the new TF1-04.
"We want to be racing at the front," added new technical director Mike Gascoyne, who Toyota signed from rivals Renault.
"That is not going to happen overnight, but I hope this car will help close the gap to the top teams."
