Rubens Barrichello immediately set his sights on winning the Formula One drivers' championship after extending his contract with Ferrari until 2006. The Brazilian will continue to drive alongside six-time champion Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, but he insisted the title was within his grasp.
"I expect to win races and I expect to fulfil my dream which is winning a world championship," he said.
"By signing this contract I have at least three more chances to win it."
Barrichello's original contract with the Italian team was due to end after this season, and a number of drivers had been linked with the Brazilian's Ferrari drive.
Barrichello also admitted he had received several offers to move away from Ferrari.
"There were other contacts that is certain. But my first option was always to stay with Ferrari," he said.
"I'm very proud, clearly Ferrari are happy with my work and I am happy here with Ferrari."
Barrichello finished fourth in last year's drivers' championship, winning the British and Japanese Grands Prix.
