Firman is hoping for a new contract with Jordan next season |
Britain's Ralph Firman will join Nick Heidfeld and Jaroslav Janis in testing for the Jordan team in Spain this week. The F1 team have yet to finalise their race line-up for next season, but have options on both Heidfeld and Firman while also talking to several other drivers.
The list of candidates include Briton's Justin Wilson and Allan McNish and Hungary's Zsolt Baumgartner
Firman said on his personal website: "Nick has an impressive record and a wealth of experience, and I'm sure he will bring a great deal to the team if his deal goes ahead.
"I am looking forward to working with him at the test at Jerez this week and, providing everything works out with our respective deals, at grands prix in 2004.
"The battle for race drives in F1 has never been tougher, but I am determined to do everything I can to help the team and earn my place in the line-up next season." Jordan said Firman would test alongside Heidfeld on Friday.
Heidfeld had his first drive of the EJ13 on Wednesday and completed 22 laps before lunch while F3000 driver Janis - making his debut in a Formula One car - did 50.
Firman only scored one point driving for Jordan alongside Giancarlo Fisichella - who has since moved to Sauber - last season.
