Michael Schumacher has insisted Juan Manuel Fangio was a greater driver than himself after breaking the Argentine's record of five Formula One titles. The Ferrari star said after winning his sixth championship at the Japanese Grand Prix: "Fangio is on a level much higher than I see myself.
"What he did stands alone and what we have achieved is also unique. I have such respect for what he achieved.
"You can't take a personality like Fangio and compare him with what has happened today. There is not even the slightest comparison."
Fangio won five titles between 1951 and 1957 and won an incredible 24 of his 51 Grands Prix.

"For me, it's the team that's important. What we achieved today together with the team has never happened before," said Schumacher, who battled to eighth place after dropping to last following a collision on the sixth lap. Ferrari clinched a record fifth consecutive constructors' title in Japan.
