Montoya dropped right down the field after being penalised |
Juan Pablo Montoya expressed his frustration and disappointment after his F1 championship hopes ended at Indianapolis. The Williams driver can no longer win the title after finishing sixth in an eventful US Grand Prix.
Montoya said the race was "very disappointing" and said he was "sad" to be out of the title reckoning.
The Colombian was put out of the reckoning by a drive-through penalty for a collision with Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello.
The Colombian made a bad start and then dropped further back as a result of the collision, which happened when he was trying to take sixth place from the Brazilian.

He was forced to take the penalty when it started to rain, forcing him to do one extra lap on dry tyres. Montoya said: "A very disappointing race, basically decided by the penalty I was given for the accident with Rubens and the moment I had to pay it.
"It started to rain hard just when I was given my drive-through penalty, which forced me to delay by one lap my pit stop to change on to wet tyres.
"It is sad to lose my drivers' championship chances in this way, especially knowing that I just needed to finish fifth to keep my hopes open."
