Montoya commits to Williams
Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya
Schumacher and Montoya will remain team-mates
Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya has signed a new deal to stay with the BMW-Williams team until the end of 2004, the team has announced.

Montoya has joined German team-mate Ralf Schumacher in pledging to stay with Williams for the next two years, offering vital long-term stability to the British-based team.

The pair are joint second in the drivers' standings behind champion Michael Schumacher.

I have no doubt that both Williams and BMW are completely determined and have the will to win a championship title

"Juan is an outstanding talent," said Williams' boss Frank Williams.

"Both his natural resource of skill and the continuity that this agreement offers will provide a considerable impetus to build a championship challenge in 2003 and 2004."

The 26-year-old Colombian made his Grand Prix debut for Williams after joining them at the beginning of last year.

He was always likely to re-sign for the team but has now formally put pen to paper.

"I have no doubt that both Williams and BMW are completely determined and have the will to win a championship title," said Montoya.

"That is why I am delighted to be racing for them."
