Schumacher took the chequered flag in the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday to clinch his fourth world championship.

Sporting director Jean Toldt showed Ferrari's delight with the epic win by telling Schumacher on his car radio: "Fantastic, fantastic."

The 32-year-old German replied: "It's simply amazing. It's so lovely to work with you guys. I love you all, I love you all, thank you."

Schumacher was clearly emotional as he stood on the winning podium, alongside second-placed Rubens Barrichello and David Coulthard in third.

"I am probably not a bad racing driver, but I am not the right man to find words for expressing emotions," said Schumacher, shedding yet more tears, after the ceremony.

Sunday's result not only allowed Schumacher equal Alain Prost's record of 51 career wins, but also ties him in second-place with the driving legend on four world titles.

Juan Manuel Fangio leads with five titles.

"I ran into Alain yesterday and he told me, 'Please win that race, I am bored with all the same questions,' and I told him I felt the same way," said Schumacher.

"We had a great weekend. I got the pole, I got the victory, I got the 51st victory to share with Alain and I got my fourth championship," said Schumacher.

"It's a bit too much for me to take."

Team victory

Schumacher's one-two with team-mate Rubens Barrichello over the finish line in Hungary ensured more joy for Ferrari.

The team took their third constructors' title with 140 points, 58 points ahead of McLaren.

"It's fantastic. To finish the championship so early is fantastic," said Ferrari's chief mechanic Nigel Stepney.

"We started well at the beginning of the season, and built on that base."

Stepney was certain that Ferrari had only one man to thank for their success - Michael Schumacher.

"He's been very consistent. He hasn't made any mistakes." he added.
