Peterborough owner Rich Frost says the club have been fighting a battle on behalf of British speedway supporters. Panthers have revealed they hope to reach a resolution with the British Speedway Promoters Association over their future in the sport. Frost told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We've spent a huge amount of money on lawyers and barristers and we've fought a fight we thought was worth fighting. "If we have succeeded, everyone in the sport will benefit from this." Both Peterborough, and champions Coventry, have been frozen out of the Elite League following disagreements over proposed rule changes. | We just want an honest, fair playing field for every club, not just Coventry and Peterborough Peterborough owner Rich Frost |
It was feared that both clubs may be forced to go without competitive speedway in 2011, but Frost says they have worked hard to try and resolve the matter. "We had a meeting in Birmingham on Monday, which took all day and was very positive all round," he said. "An EGM has been called by the BSPA for the first week of January and a statement will be issued following the outcome of that." Frost has also apologised to the club's fans for the lack of information coming out of the Panthers in recent weeks. "We've made a lot of progress and it's been tough, as we haven't been able to say much," Frost said. "We just want an honest, fair playing field for every club, not just Coventry and Peterborough."
