Caine has won seven races this season |
Newmarket-based driver Michael Caine has admitted it would take something remarkable for him to win the Porsche Carrera Cup this weekend. Caine, 41, sits 19 points behind leader Tim Harvey heading to the final two races at Brands Hatch. He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "We've got two races, both of them are 32 laps and pretty much anything can happen. "But it needs to be a disaster for Tim if I am to win the championship at Brands hatch this weekend." The Motorbase Performance competitor, who picked up his sixth and seventh wins of the campaign at Donnington last weekend, would need Harvey to fail to finish both of Saturday's and Sunday's races. | We've got on the back of Mr Harvey but unfortunately the end of the season has come a little bit too soon |
And Caine is unsure whether his title rival will take any risks. "If Tim wants to race me then anything can happen, but if he wants to just follow me around for both races he will win the championship," he said. "We're 19 points of him now, halfway through the season we were 44 points off him. "We've got on the back of Mr Harvey but unfortunately the end of the season has come a little bit too soon."
