Sims is racing his first season with the ART team |
Cambridgeshire F3 star Alexander Sims was left disappointed after failing to make the podium at Germany's Norisring. The 22-year-old finished fourth in both Saturday and Sunday's races, leaving him fourth in the overall standings. "Our lap times were pretty quick in race one but I wasn't fast enough where it mattered for overtaking," he said. "I should have done a better job in qualifying and perhaps we went in a direction with the race set-up which wasn't quite as good as we'd hoped." After starting fifth on the grid in race two Sims dragged himself into first place before dropping into second and then making light contact with championship leader Edoardo Mortara. | I'm pretty disappointed overall as I just wasn't fast enough this weekend |
"I made a very good start and got into second place pretty quickly before moving into the lead, but as the race wore on I just didn't have the pace to hold on," Sims added. "I'm pretty disappointed overall as I just wasn't fast enough this weekend, we need to improve before the next two rounds at the Nurburgring that's for sure." The Nurburgring races are over the weekend of 6 August, but before that Sims is preparing to make his second outing of the year in the British Formula 3 International Series during the championship's visit to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on 30 July.
