Priaulx has won the World Touring Car Championship three times |
Guernsey's Andy Priaulx recovered from a retirement in race one to take fifth place in the second race at the World Touring Car Championship in Portugal. A collision with the Seat in the opening race forced Priaulx's BMW into the pits for repair work. In race two, Priaulx fought back and despite starting 21st on the grid, managed to make his way up through the field to finish in fifth. That result ensured Priaulx stays fourth in the Championship. Priaulx said: "We were so unlucky in race one in what happened after the rolling start and there was a lot of work to do on the left hand side of the car to make it race worthy again. "Race two was a different proposition and it was a really interesting a fun race. "The car was really strong and I was able to keep out of the carnage and get what could prove to be important points." The next meeting on the World Touring Car calendar will be at Brands Hatch, Kent on 18 July.
