Dario Franchitti has delayed a decision on moving to Jaguar, and indeed Formula One, as he considers his options for next season.

There had been speculation Franchitti was being lined up as a replacement for fellow British driver Johnny Herbert next season.

The 27-year-old Scot did test again for Jaguar on Wednesday before announcing at a Silverstone press conference he had not yet signed for the Milton Keynes based team.

Franchitti confirmed that testing had gone well, and he remained keen to move from CART racing into Formula One in the future, but revealed he was yet to decide on what car, and in which country, he would be driving next season.

It's a question of which drives are available... on both sides of the Atlantic

"I've learnt a lot and it's been very enjoyable," Franchitti said of his testing with Jaguar.

"But we have to wait and see. It's a question of which deal will be the best for my career and which drives are available... on both sides of the Atlantic."

The Edinburgh-born star now heads back to the United States for a CART race in Michigan on Sunday looking to improve on his 13th place in the drivers' standings.

Montoya

Colombia's Juan Pablo Montoya meanwhile, the man who beat Franchitti to the CART title last year, could to be confirmed as Jenson Button's replacement at Williams BMW in the next few days.

Former champion Jacques Villeneuve's decision to remain with British American Racing for another year is also likely to be announced soon.

Button could partner Villeneuve at BAR next season, though the 20-year-old is also being linked with Benetton and Jordan - whose Italian driver Jarno Trulli might be on his way to Benetton.
