Foxhall Stadium has held speedway meetings since 1951

Ipswich Witches are hoping to complete work on widening their Foxhall track in time for the start of the 2010 Elite League season.

The changes aim to increase overtaking and improve the quality of racing.

Manager Chris Louis told BBC Suffolk: "When air-fences came in, our track became a metre narrower and it already was one of the more narrow tracks."

Funding for the work, which will cost in the region of £20,000, is expected to come from additional sponsorship.

Louis is hoping a series of meetings this week will lead to construction getting underway during the winter.

He said: "If all goes well and we can find the budget, we will certainly be making those changes.

"It's based around entertainment, if we get the track changes in place we will have the most entertaining track in the Elite League."
