Brabham toasts his 'special' win

David Brabham
David Brabham is the son of Sir Jack Brabham, the triple F1 champion.

David Brabham has spoken about his 'special moment' after claiming a first-ever overall Le Mans victory.

The Henley-based racing driver, partnered by Alex Wurz and Marc Gene, helped the Peugeot team to first place in the 24-hour race last weekend.

Brabham told BBC Radio Berkshire: "I've been doing Le Mans for 16 years and this was the first time I've been stood on the top podium overall.

"It was a very special moment for me - this was the one I really wanted."

The 43-year-old ex-Formula One driver added: "The last two years I've driven for Aston Martin and we've won the GT1 class so I've had three top podiums in a row but this was an overall winner.

"You're racing in front of 250,000 people which is an amazing and unbelievable experience."
