Steve Plater was a superb winner of the Senior TT race in the Isle of Man. The HM Plant Honda rider completed the six-lap race in a record time of one hour 45 minutes and 53.15 seconds - an average speed of 128.278mph
Speaking after the race, Plater said: "This is one of the biggest results of my career. I can't explain how much this means to me."
The Isle of Man's Conor Cummins finished 20 seconds behind Plater for his second podium in as many days
Kawasaki rider Cummins, now the fastest Manx man around the Mountain Course, said: "I have grown up with this event and am over the moon to be where I am now."
Gary Johnson who has started every 2009 TT from the front completed the podium. The Lincolnshire rider said: "We've had a hard week and to end it on the podium is amazing"
New Zealand's Bruce Anstey's TT nightmare continued as he was forced to retire on lap two
Race favourite John McGuinness, who led for the first three laps, raised his own lap record to 131.58 mph but retired with a broken chain at Cruickshanks on lap four
Crowd favourite Guy Martin had more misfortune as he too suffered a broken chain on his second pit stop. The Hydrex Honda rider recorded three podium finishers this year but is still searching for his first TT victory
Ryan Farquhar and Wednesday's Supersport 2 winner Michael Dunlop also retired
Tuesday's double TT champion Ian Hutchinson came off at Quarterbridge at the start of the final lap. The Yorkshire rider was not hurt but the fall lost him his lead in the TT championship, which was won by Plater
As the winner of the inaugural TT Championship Series, Plater collected the Joey Dunlop Trophy and an additional �10,000
The win was the Lincolnshire rider's second on the Mountain course following his Supersport victory in 2008
