Michael Dunlop won his first Isle of Man TT on Wednesday to continue his family's success story at the event. The win meant that the Dunlop name was on top of the TT podium for the first time since Joey clinched three wins in 2000.
The Street Sweep Yamaha rider mastered the mixed conditions of wet and dry to win by 31 seconds from New Zealand�s Bruce Anstey with the Isle of Man�s Conor Cummins completing the podium.
The Ballymoney rider, 21 said: "I've always wanted to win a TT title and for it to come so early in my career is amazing. My dad gave me the circuit knowledge and I used it."
Dunlop's win maintains his family's proud TT tradition after his late father Robert's five wins and his late uncle Joey's record 26 triumphs
Bruce Anstey was delighted to claim second after a week of mixed fortunes around the Mountain course. The Kiwi said: " We've finally got rid of the gremlins. I'm made up with second."
Manx star Cummins was over the moon to make his first podium. "I've been trying for four years to get here," he said. "And now I am here, I want to win one more than ever."
Cummins added: "I have grown up with the TT and to stand on the podium is a dream come true."
Dunlop set the fastest lap of the race on his final circuit with an average speed of 125.07 mph. Steve Plater, Ian Hutchinson and Ian Lougher completed the top six places
