Christodoulou is firmly in the title race [Jacob Ebrey] |
Sutton Coldfield's Riki Christodoulou moved to within sight of the lead of the Formula Renault UK Championship after a win at Thruxton on Sunday. The 19-year-old claimed a win and a second place in last weekend's races and is now only 13 points behind his cousin Adam Christodoulou at the top. "It's been an excellent weekend for me," Riki said. "The car was excellent in both races. "It's been a perfect points haul and I'm very definitely in the title race." Riki started the first 16-lap race from third on the grid and came through to take second just behind Adam but gained revenge in the second race taking the chequered flag over five seconds ahead of his rival after Adam was hit with a time penalty. The two cousins continue their battle for the championship in rounds nine and 10 at Croft in County Durham on 31 May- 1 June.
